Lee was treated at The Christie Hospital and all profits from the festival are to help purchase a CTC Machine for The Christie Clinical Trials Unit. A cell search machine measures circulating tumour cells (CTC's) which enter the bloodstream to spread cancer to other parts of the body.  The machine can detect cancer spread at an early stage so that more targeted treatment options can be offered to patients.  This technology will offer Christie researchers new insight into what causes cancer cells to spread so they can develop and test new improved drugs for targeting and destroying tumour cells and so improve the prognosis for many cancer patients.
