Musician & Singers needed-Streetwise Opera - NORTH EAST
« on: March 16, 2015, 12:39:10 pm »
Award-winning music charity Streetwise Opera is seeking experienced and innovative Workshop Leaders for our workshops in Newcastle, Gateshead and Middlesbrough. We have been working in the North East since 2006 in a variety of centres, now including regular sessions at Sage Gateshead.

Streetwise Opera specialises in using music to help people experiencing homelessness make positive changes in their lives.

We run a regular music programme in homeless centres and arts venues around the UK and stages newly-commissioned opera productions which give homeless participants the chance to work alongside some of the best artists in the world.

The role

We have a small team of workshop leaders in the region and would like to open up our pool to other interested freelance musicians and singers who have good facilitation skills.

You do not need to be a singer, but you must be a trained professional musician who ideally has a knowledge of opera, or can easily familiarise yourself with a score.

Above all we need enthusiastic leaders who can inspire our participants and make the workshops accessible to all.

Session fees (2-hour workshops)

Leader 1 - £93 (rising to £95 from April)
 Leader 2 - £82 (rising to £84 from April)

We provide regular training for all leaders and shadowing opportunities for those accepted into the pool of leaders.

Time commitment

We run our 2-hour sessions in termly blocks of 11-13 sessions. Leaders will usually be booked for a block of sessions in rotation with others in the pool and depending on other work commitments.
