Job title: Volunteer Administration Assistant

Reporting to: Volunteer Coordinator and Volunteer Coordinator Assistant

Main Purpose of the Post

The role involves assisting the Volunteer Coordinator and Assistant Volunteer Coordinator in planning, organising and delivering the Volunteer Programme for the 2013 Manchester International Festival.


• Looking after a database of over 400 volunteers

• Setting up projects and briefs on our online scheduling system

• Answering volunteer queries by telephone, email and social media

• Maintaining records, filing systems and computer files

• Assisting with our inductions, which will include evening and weekend work

• Managing communications throughout the festival whilst the team are out on site

• Undertaking any other tasks/duties as may be reasonably required.



• Ability to work on his/her own initiative as well as part of a team

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

• Excellent organisational and administration skills

• Excellent verbal and writing communication skills

• Excellent computer and reporting skills

• Commitment to achieving high standards

• Positive and enthusiastic attitude

• Willingness to support the Festival’s commitment to equal opportunities

• Availability for both evening and weekend events when necessary


• IT expertise

• Experience of working on or with large-scale events

• Interest in new contemporary art and culture


Salary: Manchester Living Wage £13,923 per annum (pro rata)

Contract: This is a fixed term full time contract that will run from May - July 2015

Location: Manchester

Hours: 35 hours per week but additional hours will be expected at busy times and a weekends during the Festival for which no overtime is payable

Annual leave entitlement is 25 days a year pro rata plus public holidays

There will be a one month probationary period for this position.
