Sasha. Female, 16 yrs, mixed-race. Suffering from mental health difficulties.

Grandad. Male, 75 yrs, white. Suffering from dementia.

Sasha’s Trial. Sasha and her Grandad share a touching closeness, full of patience and loving despite the differences in their ages and outlooks. Together they explore the challenges of their medical conditions and the subject of clinical trials. However as Grandad’s health deteriorates and Sasha struggles to make sense of this, her confusions threaten to overwhelm her. Faced with decisions she now must make alone, what hopes can Sasha’s future hold?

Further info:

- Devised as a live performance to be wound throughout a PPI day (Patient & Public Involvement) for the NHS Clinical Research Network (CRN), a short film for the festival circuit, and also a short promotional film for the CRN.

- Comprising 4 x approx. 10 min scenes, plus backstory.

- On the PPI day, actors will be required to remain in character all day, interacting with patients, public and presenters as appropriate. Please note that some of these may have mental health difficulties and present accordingly. Actors will need to be mindful of this, and to share the production partners aims of inclusivity and empowerment through acceptance, understanding and positive social impact.
