Acting/Movement/Voice Tutor, Dark Horse Theatre-NORTH WEST
« on: October 07, 2013, 03:42:05 pm »
Dark Horse is an Arts Council National Portfolio Organisation and national touring theatre company. Our work features new writing for integrated casts of actors with and without learning disabilities, which plays out to adult mainstream audiences. Our actors with learning disabilities are vocationally trained on our ALRA (the Academy of Live and Recorded Arts) validated actor training courses crafted around Stanislavskian/Strasbergian precepts.

Dark Horse is a physical theatre company which also works with text and our training reflects the two theatre forms. Graduates feature in our own ensemble, regional and national theatre tours and on film and television- 8 of our actors featured in a recent episode of SHAMELESS (Channel 4).

We are looking for northern based (No travel allowances payable) drama school trained acting tutors (or actors with extensive professional experience and a sound understanding of stanislavskian system) to deliver 6/7 week long modules on year two of our Foundation Acting (F2) Course for learning disabled students. Delivery days are Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between 9.30am and 3pm at the Lawrence Batley Theatre in Huddersfield and tutors are sought for one days’ delivery per week at the rate of £100 per delivery day.

Planning and induction to company methodology is a requirement of the role and there will be ongoing input from and collaboration with Dark Horse Artistic Director Vanessa Brooks. Delivery encompasses a broad range of core acting skills including voice, movement, acting technique and project rehearsals. This is an excellent opportunity for actors and acting tutors with the appropriate skills to learn and develop techniques with an innovative and excellent company.

Year two adult actors and students have a high level of skill, professional experience and have already trained with outstanding vocational tutors- only experienced actors and/or tutors will be considered for the posts and a drama UK drama school background is desireable.  Please note that the posts are not suitable for children’s, community or theatre arts practitioners.

Expressions of interest and CV’s should be sent to Artistic Director Vanessa Brooks- closing date 15thNovember 2013.
