The Bowes Museum and New Light art charity are looking for an inspiring artist with a successful track record of leading projects with primary-aged children to devise and run a whole school immersive Art Week in November 2015. The starting point for the project will be an artwork from the New Light Biennial Open Exhibition which opens at the Bowes later this year.

The partner school is local to the Bowes Museum with 80 children aged 3-11 years. It is envisaged the whole project will take 10 days to complete; the total budget allocated is £2,000, excluding the cost of art materials.

The aim of the week is for the school to be totally focused on making and looking at skills-based art for five whole days. During this time, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 children will each spend a day at the museum visiting the New Light Exhibition and working with the artist and museum staff. The week will culminate in the production of an artwork to which every child has contributed and which will be a permanent exhibit at the school. We would like this to be a week of excitement and discovery for pupils, teachers and parents.
