To offer casual assistance to the technical operation of Wilde Theatre, Studio Theatre and other performances spaces at South Hill Park, including get-ins, fit-ups, and get-outs, set construction, props making/sourcing, setting up of staging, lighting, sound equipment and to operate equipment during performances/events.

The technician is responsible to the Technical Manager, and Senior Technician, but in cases of their absence, to assume temporary responsibility for safety and technical matters and report to the Chief Executive.

You will work as a casual technician to the Technical Department, sharing responsibility for provision of technical services for the Wilde Theatre and Studio Theatre, and the activities of the SHP generally.

To be trained in theatrical protocols, lighting and sound operation, scheduling and planning to ensure the smooth running of the Technical Department.

To work according to a duty rota prepared by the Technical Manager on such tasks as he/she may reasonably direct, related to the operation of the venues and the general programme of the SHP and elsewhere. To keep an accurate record of the hours worked as required by the administration of the South Hill Park.

To assist in liaising with groups using the Wilde Theatre and Studio Theatre, both amateur and professional, to ensure that the venue is available and supervised for use at times which have been agreed with the users.

To ensure that groups using the theatre do so under supervision and in accordance with accepted practices as they relate to security and safety of the general public and members of SHP’s staff.

To report immediately any equipment or circumstances that might constitute a potential hazard to those working in the theatre or the public.

An active interest in Theatre and Music, and the Arts.

An understanding and appreciation of Technical Stage Management.

Good communication skills.

The ability to work under pressure to deadlines.

A willingness to work irregular hours.

A valid driving licence is preferred.

Working at Height training is preferred.
